Shuliak, a Belarusian-born dentist practicing in Manhattan, has remained almost entirely out of public view since Epstein's August 2019 death inside a federal detention center. She was not a household name during the years of lurid court testimony and civil litigation. But she was, according to records reviewed in the estate proceedings, the last person Epstein called before he was found dead — a detail that places her in a uniquely intimate position relative to a man whose social network otherwise stretched from heads of state to Wall Street.

What the public is only now beginning to understand is the scope of what Epstein left her. Court filings in the U.S. Virgin Islands — where Epstein legally domiciled his estate — indicate that his final trust, amended just days before his death, names Shuliak as a primary beneficiary. The estate's total value has been estimated at between $100 million and $143 million, depending on the valuation of assets that include real property, financial accounts, and at least two private islands in the Virgin Islands archipelago. A Paris apartment is also reportedly among the holdings.

The circumstances of that last-minute trust amendment have drawn pointed scrutiny from attorneys representing Epstein's victims, who allege the modification was designed to shield assets from civil judgments. The amendment was executed on August 8, 2019 — two days before Epstein was found dead. Shuliak's path into Epstein's life runs through the geography of his influence.
